Jayla

Meet Jayla! Jayla is 16 years old and will be a junior in high school this coming fall. This summer is Jayla’s second summer as a One Summer Chicago participant placed at NECA. As a part of the NECA team, Jayla helps care for our community garden and also works with other youth team members to plan community events for youth and families to stay safe and have fun over the summer months. Jayla’s favorite days at NECA are when there are “chill days” and when there is time to play games with other youth workers and campers. When she is not working, she likes to crochet. Her short-term academic goal is to become a member of the National Honor Society. Her long-term career goal is to get her “dream job” as a social worker and continue to help others.
